International Timber MD Tony Miles appointed as new CTI Director

We’re delighted that our managing director, Tony Miles has been appointed as director of the Confederation of Timber Industries (CTI).

The CTI was launched earlier this year and has, for the first time, brought together all aspects of the timber industry’s supply chain - from sawmilling and timber distribution, through to paper and furniture manufacturing and timber construction. This industry-wide approach will enable the supply chain to have one voice when it comes to tackling common issues that will have an impact on the future of this important business sector.

The CTI held its first board meeting on October 15th, where Tony Miles joined Chairman Peter Hindle MBE, Senior Vice President for Saint Gobain, Stephen King, Commercial Director SCA and Alex Goodfellow, Group Managing Director Stewart Milne Timber Systems.

Tony Miles said: “I am very pleased to be joining the Board and looking forward to making substantial progress in improving standards throughout the supply chain on responsible sourcing and product quality. After working in the timber supply chain for more than 35 years I am looking forward to being a vocal advocate of the industry. We have always been too fragmented. The CTI gives the industry an exciting opportunity to speak with a single voice, pulling together even more to promote timber and take on competing materials.”

Dirk Vennix, CTI CEO added: “I am really excited that Tony has joined the Board. He will add significant expertise to the CTI Board through his vast experience with sector leading roles in the past. Given his passion for advocacy roles he will give the CTI a great boost in its quest to promote the industry and grow its markets.”
