International Timber invests in new moulding equipment at Trafford Park

International Timber has invested £400,000 in a new Weinig Powermat 2000 moulder at its Trafford Park site, increasing productivity on the line by 54 per cent and enabling the company to meet ongoing customer demand for bespoke mouldings.

The six head moulder, which incorporates a jointing system, has spindle speeds of 10,000 rpm and provides faster throughput of up to 60 metres per minute.  It also features a PowerCom system and HSK tooling for fast set-up and changeover, resulting in minimal downtime and increased flexibility.

The Powermat 2000 brings the total number of Weinig moulders at the site to five.  Its addition is part of an ongoing investment programme by International Timber to ensure the company continues to provide customers with a wide-ranging supply of quality products, coupled with the best possible service.

Mike Scully, production manager at International Timber, comments: “The Powermat 2000 produces mouldings in a variety of sizes to satisfy standard building regulations, from the smallest softwood bead to the largest meranti sill.  Thanks to its speed and efficiency we can supply bespoke short runs, offering a flexible and responsive just-in-time delivery service to meet the needs of our customers.”

With over 80 years experience of timber, International Timber provides a superior range of products in hardwoods, softwoods, clear softwoods and treated products, as well as standard and bespoke machined profiles.   Its seven acre site at Trafford Park is the hub of the company’s hardwood operation and also machines significant volumes of softwood and clear softwood added value products.
