DISTRIBUTION B. guianensis and B. tiliaefolia occur infrequently in Guyana and French Guiana as scattered trees in the low upland forests; B tiliaefolia is fairly numerous in Guyana in the near interior and Rupunumi district. B. guianensis occurs infrequently in the Amazon Region of Brazil, where it is marketed as tatajuba
DRYING Dries slowly but with very little degrade. It has an exceptionally low volumetric shrinkage (10.2 per cent) when drying from the green to oven dry. Tangential shrinkage is 6.6 per cent. and 5.2 per cent radially
