Softwood tends to come from cone bearing tree species such as spruce and pine. Around 80 per cent of the world’s timber is sourced from softwood due to it growing faster than hardwood trees, with it traditionally being produced by the Baltic region (including Scandinavia and Russia) and North America. As well as standard softwood, we also offer a range of engineered softwood. These modified solutions have been developed over years of research and provide a more stable timber option that can be used in a number of ways including joinery, doors and windows.
Structural timber isn’t about looking pretty: it’s about being strong and being able to cope with substantial loads of a building during its lifetime. Used in vital areas such as joists, roofs and stud partitions, it is the building block of any structure. At International Timber, we offer a range of structural components to suit all needs.
