Case Study
Founded in 1541 by King Henry VIII, The King’s School is a prestigious co-educational independent school with a rich history, educating children from 4 -18 years of age.
In recent years, it has expanded – opening a dedicated music school, constructing a new floodlit astroturf pitch, opening a new theatre and developing the sixth form centre.
Jewson’s Roger W Jones Branch, which provided the building supplies for the project, took advantage of International Timber’s expertise – and our staff made recommendations on the use of timber within the construction directly to Anwyl’s site team. International Timber has worked closely with Anwyl Construction– providing the raw materials for a number of projects.
The King’s School sought a single storey extension to its existing Junior School premises, as well as internal remodelling. To this end, Anwyl Construction sought to provide timber frame construction with Siberian Larch cladding.
This species was specifically requested by The King’s School’s architect and samples needed to be approved before things got underway.
The cladding needed to be planned out per section and length across the entire building and International Timber was able to reduce costs and lead times by suggesting appropriate measurements.
Planning the project in this way not only helped to keep the project within Anwyl Constructions budget, but also enabled a comfortable amount of time for fire treatment to be applied to the timber.
On October 10th 2015 the project was successfully completed, with work on the site progressing on schedule and within budget.
Anwyl has expressed interest in working together with International Timber on future projects and is currently reviewing an order of Cedar cladding for a bakery in Wrexham.
