Environment & Certifications

No problem. All of our certifications are available on the footer of the website, under 'certificates'.
Yes we offer both FSC and PEFC certified timber. Whilst both are committed to the same cause, the difference lies within their origins. Initially FSC was developed to look at tropical environments, which led PEFC to facilitate sustainable forest management (SFM) in Europe.
FSC stands for Forestry Stewardship Council. The FSC system allows businesses and consumers to identify, purchase and use wood, paper and other forest products made with materials from well-managed forests and/or recycled sources. PEFC is the Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification. It is a leading global alliance of national forest certification systems. As an international non-profit, non-governmental organization, they are dedicated to promoting sustainable forest management through independent third-party certification. International Timber pride ourselves on our sustainable purchasing policy.
That’s easy. We are experts in timber with years of knowledge and experience, backed up by a robust sourcing policy. This means we can give you the peace of mind that the timber you are buying is suitable for your application and legally sourced.
You can find a copy of our sustainability statement which includes our environmental policy on our website under the ‘Sustainability’ tab on the homepage.

C16 and C24 refer to softwood grading. C16 timber is the most commonly used form of timber and is very cost effective. It is typically used in internal joinery applications such as floors, walls and roof joists. The timber is kiln dried to reduce the amount of moisture and increase its strength. C16 can often contain defects such as knots, sap stains and uneven surface. C24 is superior to C16. It is also kiln dried, but offers greater strength and less visible signs of defects.
