Laminated timber materials are becoming increasingly popular amongst construction experts as they utilise all of the incredible advantages of timber with the benefit of some slight performance tweaking.
Strong, reliable and long-lasting – these are three of the key components you get from engineered and laminated timber. The process of creating a superior timber that can be used in windows, doors or stair cases has been used for many years, however it has only been in recent years that we have seen significant improvements with large European joinery companies investing in the equipment to produce laminated or engineered components.
Between the early 80s, 90s and 00s, one of the most used materials for window frames and doors was uPVC. Now we may be biased, but our bias is borne from fact, and uPVC is unfortunately detrimental to the environment due to its toxic chemicals and inability to be recycled, and only has a shelf life of up to 30-years, whilst timber can last up to 60!
Thankfully, because of the above, the tides are changing and people are continuously seeing the benefits of a beautiful engineered timber option for their doors, windows and stairs. A greater sense of elegance, maturity and beauty is exuded through the use of laminated or modified timber – you can never quite shake the plastic look of uPVC.

- Oak laminated – FSC-rated, sourced from Europe
- Softwood knotty edged glued – produced from high quality redwood, laminated across the width, U.K. produced, sanded surface ready for priming
- Softwood clear grade laminated timber – high performance, sourced with FSC/PEFC certification, sold clear of defects, kiln dried
