International Timber recently lent a helping hand to Ty Hafan, a leading children’s hospice in Wales, by supplying timber for their outdoor communal areas.
Ty Hafan provide care for life-limited children to ensure that they enjoy the best quality of life possible and that their families can make the most of the time they have left with their child.
This is the first project International Timber have collaborated with Ty Hafan on, and it was brought to the company’s attention by the Costain/VINCI joint venture. Without doubt, for such a fantastic cause, International Timber was more than happy to offer their help.
In this project, International Timber provided Ty Hafan with timber products and Jewson supplies – including decking boards, handrail, posts, carcassing joists, decking fillet, glulam all treated to AC500 – which are being used for the construction of picnic benches, canopies, viewing areas, decking areas and fencing.
Throughout the project there were few obstacles that surfaced, however there was one small consideration – as Ty Hafan didn’t have the facility to accept large transport vehicles, the products were delivered from a nearby Jewsons branch rather than directly from an International Timber delivery lorry.
So far, the Ty Hafan project has been an utter success, and everything is still moving steadily with completion date still on track.
International Timber are confident that more opportunities will arise for further collaboration in the future, aligning with the corporate social responsibility and sustainability objectives of International Timber.
