European Hardwood

European Hardwood

International Timber has been a leading supplier of European Hardwood for many years. We’ve provided this type of timber for projects such as construction, furniture production and door manufacture. So, regardless of the job you’re working on, you can rest assured that we’ll be able to provide you with the best quality European Hardwoods.

From European Oak to European Prime Beech, we supply a range of quality European timber to suit the needs of a variety of different projects.

European hardwoods are a popular choice across the world, recognised for their appealing and sleek aesthetic, as well as their strong and durable properties. This type of timber originates from areas such as France, Germany and England.

European hardwood timber has subtle differences from American Hardwood. For example, despite coming from the same species of tree, European Oak tends to have a darker, browner and slightly more rich colour in comparison to American Oak. European Oak timber also typically has a softer and more wavy grain pattern, whilst American Oaks generally have quite pronounced graining.

European hardwoods are frequently used in flooring projects. European Oak flooring is a common feature in many buildings and domestic projects, as are European Oak veneers.

Product Availability

International Timber keeps a comprehensive range of Oak products and can provide tailor-made custom solutions to special requirements. The EU requirement for all timber to be from ‘legal sources’ means all of our European Oak is sourced with FSC® or PEFC™ certification. Other legally and well managed sourced hardwoods include: Beech - steamed (pink), unsteamed (white) or natural colour with no defect. Beech is used for fire doors, painted joinery, woodware, furniture and shop fittings.

In European Beech, we hold a large stock holding which is FSC and PEFC Certified. We have developed CND Beech (Colour No Defect) in a dimension stock ideal for door manufacturing with an excellent fire rating and with excellent supply chain contacts we are able to deliver mixed thickness in half/direct loads into our customer base for Germany/France/Italy.

Other species available to order include Walnut, Maple, Chestnut, Sycamore, Elm and even Hornbeam.
