Modified Timbers

The wood modification process takes place to increase the decay resistance of timbers with naturally low durability.

Modifying lower grade timbers potentially enables them to be used in situations where they wouldn’t normally have been used. These timbers generally require preservative treatments to increase the lifespan; however when modified it not only provides a longer life but can also provide other beneficial changes such as dimensional
stability and resistance to insects. These modified products offer a cost advantage over more expensive and rare exotic species.
