MDF

MDF Panels

Medium-density fibreboard (MDF) is a type of engineered timber that is created through the breaking down of softwood or hardwood into wooden fibres. These fibres are then combined with wax and resin, then pressure and high temperatures are applied in order to form panels.

MDF has a variety of purposes, including furniture manufacture, cabinetry, and the production of doors and frames. It is commonly used for interior projects due to its versatility and ease of use.

There are plenty of benefits of choosing MDF for your project. For example, it is an effective and more affordable alternative to plywood. Additionally, in contrast with authentic wood, MDF has no knots, grains or warping. Plus, its smooth and consistent surface helps to prevent voids and splinters.

Another great advantage of MDF is that its smooth surface can be easily painted or covered with veneer in order to achieve the ideal aesthetic. Veneered MDF is particularly common, with many choosing to cover their MDF panels with ash or beech.
